those scooters actually came as an optional accessory with i think it was a civic or accord in like 82-83. They were built to specifically fit in the trunk of that car, which is pretty cool in my opinion. ? Only however many cars that were sold in that time span that had those scooters added, are how many of those that exist. Its a super rare little scooter, so you're lucky to see one."

geil, wenn du ne panne hast oder wegen benzin liegen geblieben bist kannst du damit schnell los.

Der kleine Roller war nicht für den Accord sondern für den Honda City.

In 1981 Honda had a big idea: take the typical subcompact city car platform, but put a tall, van-style body on it so the occupants would sit upright. Voilà, leg room. There were two problems with the Honda City: even a four-wheeler this small would still get stuck in traffic and launching a big idea in a crowded market required some extra je ne se quios to really capture the Japanese market’s imagination and inspire buyers. The Honda Motocompo (http://hellforleathermagazine.com/2008/06/want-honda-motocompo-paper-cra.html) was the solution to both those problems. Specifically engineered to fit in the trunk of the City, the Motocompo’s USP was pegs, a seat and handlebars that folded into the squared-off plastic body. This transformed scooter into friendly lifestyle accessory and gave Honda a single package that wasn’t just unique, but the ultimate solution to city transportation.

The Honda MotoCompo was launched in 1981 as the first compact collapsible scooter designed to fit in the trunk of a small sedan. It was marketed alongside the unspeakably ugly Honda City as a fun youthful accessory as this broc**** advertisement (http://my.reset.jp/~inu/ProductsDataBase/Products/HONDA/MOTOCOMPO/MOTOCOMPO.htm) and ridiculously over-the-top commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE1iMcIDqb8)demonstrate. Unfortunately, while sales of the Honda City took off, nobody opted for the MotoCompo add-on. The product was discontinued in 1983 after only selling 53,000 units, mainly in Japan. Since then the proto-Transformer scooter has become a highly sought after cult favorite.
Its air-cooled 49cc 2-stroke motor delivers a meager 2.5 horsepower, but where it lacks in power it tries to make up for in range. It’s been reported to get over 100 miles per gallon, but since the tank can only hold .58 gallons the claim is a bit of a misrepresentation. The space-saving box construction also offers very little in terms of ergonomic comfort, making long hauls rather impractical. But for shorter trips there’s no doubt that riding around on a MotoCompo is the most fun you’ll ever have this side of 50cc. With its retro-futuristic look and surprising spunk, we’d take it over a unsightly Honda City any day.
